Children's Holistic Development

We believe a great education begins with Story, Myth, Legend, Fable and Saga surge through our lives with every inhalation. How can we contribute to the needs of the future without remembering the wisdom collected from two-hundred thousand years of walkabout? Through affirming old tales and weaving their matrices, a spontaneous plethora of madrigals are ignited into being, half remembered, half newly conceived as the individual breathes them into new life. From story, relevance is gained so that information has a home with a warm fire and a feast to welcome it into our memory instead of the modern disconnected bits and bytes that can never bite even a bit being numb data tasting only of static.


An ecosystem without roots and organic matter erodes quickly and dries fast, going dormant. Learning is as important as water, we need it to survive, to stay mindful. Originateve aims to grow a forest of allusions to the rich literature we come from so the liquid learning has humus to absorb it and roots to draw forth new branches. This is accomplished through a patchwork of storytelling that each wrap their tendrils around different highlights to accentuate various specific skills from a spectrum of disciplines.

For example, we might use the old Chinese folk tale about “Four Dragons.” This story touches on compassion, loyalty and stewardship of the natural world, psychology of rulers, empathy and duty of the citizen, all while imparting the geographical element of China's four major rivers: the Long, Pearl, Yellow and Black.

Holistic and Regenerative Instruction


Holism is the intention behind speaking to and developing ones consciousness, community and ecology.  Holism acknowledges the balance that comes from identifying areas of avoidance and investing in shortcomings through measured invitation to growth.  Holism cannot possibly look the same to everyone due to its honoring of the whole being as an individual.  The individual is honored by the community and realizes that collective strength comes from a dynamic whole of diverse perspectives, strengths , skills and wisdom.  Holism begins with connections.  Mentors must usher and await transformation utilizing three or more cognitive pathways simultaneously with emotional and spiritual development.
Regenerative Instruction employs an awareness and drive toward and beyond sustainability.  Regenerative lifestyle shifts are modeled by the instructor, faculty, staff and administration of the institution with the intention to radiate into the broader emerging community.  Individual, group and community processes are seen as ecological in nature and intention toward replenishing and improving the learning and community environments, physically and relationally, are constant goals.

WOOD SCHOOLS

 


Among our ranks WOOD SCHOOLS are cherished for their green budding aspirations towards Holism. Wood Schools are those that have demonstrated substantial shift in their direction and intention towards becoming Holistic Regenerative Environments of Learning. Eagerness to co-operate and grow is evident yet often stems from idealisms lusciously spoken of but rarely effectively put into practice. In order for Wood Schools to thrive further moisture from the broader forest in which they have sprouted must exist. Like the shoot of Bamboo, Wood Schools are defined by their strength and flexibility.  Wood Schools have a fresh relationship with holistic designs and approaches.  They are tasked with laying the structural, intellectual, professional, emotional and spiritual foundation for their educational environment to thrive in. 
FIRE SCHOOLS


Fire Schools are warm environments that were carefully kindled into dynamic energy breeding learning havens. It is in this phase of growth that prosperity firstly and most often times becomes evident. The restless dynamic of a strong fire flickers full of creativity. Nonetheless, special care must be given to these schools in order to avoid excess that may result in burns occasioned by well-intended but mis-targeted impulses.  Fire Schools blaze with recruitment and expansion but must take care not to burn out.  Holistic methodologies move from novel to routine as systems of maintaining adequate fuel for regeneration are conceived and specialized around the unique learning community that is emerging. 

EARTH SCHOOLS

As the fire burns the wood, that once fed it as fuel, down into the ash that is the earth we all return to, so do Earth Schools become agents of balance, stability and conservation. There is a defining shift inwards that results in authentic outward manifestations of a balanced feminine and masculine self. Strong voices of empathy ring out in harmonizing chords that resemble the hard work of bringing together the necessary long-term planning while procuring to remain fertile to the present needs of the biodiversity that relies on her.  Ceremonies become ritualized. Leverage within the system/environment/ community is relational between mentors, learners and the community at large.  Transformational shift is becoming evident in multidimensional patterns.  The environment is noticeably natural.  Assessment methods are authentic.  Lesson plans are holistic and skillfully  implement a minimum of three cognitive content area themes and the respective emotional and spiritual domains.

Earth Schools must demonstrate their Summer energy for no less than 2 cycles through the seasons before legible for advancement.

 

METAL SCHOOLS
Metal Schools have stood the test of time and fire demonstrating strength and longevity of creativity and persistent attributes of regenerative practices manifested in holistic manners for a period no less than 2 full Lunar years.  Metal schools are self reliant and demonstrate the stamina necessary to be deemed self-reliant and even prefer to handle difficulties on their own. Furthermore, Metal Schools demonstrate wise business-oriented trends towards demonstrating exemplary organization and stability that would encourage the larger globe in which Holistic schools are sprouting. Metal schools, are conductive of energy in their nature and therefore are agents of change and transformation to those who come into contact with them and enjoy their mentorship.  
Metal Schools must demonstrate their Autumn energy for no less than 2 cycles through the seasons before harvesting legibility for advancement.

WATER SCHOOLS

Water Schools are vibrant manifestations of what Holistic Regenerative Environments of Learning can look like. They are wise yet subtle in their delivery. One of the most characterizing traits of Water Schools is their life-giving essence by engendering HLE in their surrounding communities. Water Schools are responsible for begetting no less than 3 Wood Schools and in this being demonstrative not only of sustainability but regeneration. Abundance comes with great power to bring about life to barren stricken lands. Yet this power is controlled and damned for timely use. Plenty of calm seas are also manifest in her waters.
